AR and VR

Do you want to see a dinosaur on your dining table, a lion on your bed, the solar system in your living room or a whole new universe in your garden right in front of you? Wonder how? Technology has undergone a drastic leap towards future. The Augmented Reality or AR, is the key visual enhancing of the real world where you live in.
AR take use of the gadget vision, mapping and depth tracking to show a contextually relevant digital content in the real world, real-time. It creates a perfect blend of digital contents into a real-world scene to create an enhanced artificial environment. AR can be experience through specially designed hardware as well your mobile phone with AR mobile apps.
AR is applied in real world games such as Pokemon-Go. It is used in development of new age games and to create a real-world gaming experience and also helps in fostering individualized learning process. It is helpful in increasing user experience, knowledge and information. In the ed-tech industry the models of experiments, instruments and also biological specimens are shown right in front of the learner to get an immersive learning experience.
Though it is the most modern technology with more and more positive interventions to create a whole new world, it has its own disadvantages which in worst cases ends up in taking up life. AR is heftily expensive to develop and maintain, and the performance levels may be very low due to underdeveloped AR devices. It may cause mental health issues and it may lead to addiction due to extreme engagement causing hazardous events such as an accident.
The proper use of AR technology will increase a real-world communication through embedded texts, images and also advertising using 3d-billboards.

When AR includes 25% virtual content and 75% real world to create visual enhancement, the VR or Virtual Reality is 100% imaginary virtual world to interact with. With VR headsets on, you actually enter a whole new world created in 3-D, where you walk, talk, touch and interact with an unreal object using goggles and gloves.
VR is now finding its application in gaming technology as well as ed-tech sector to give learners an interactive experience, like a journey deeper into science. The user has to wear VR headset or goggles, which minimizes the interaction with the real world. The user can adjust the lenses in the wearable according to his/her eye positioning. The virtual scenes or environment rendered on the screen will be from a PC or a Mobile phone, connected by an HDMI or the mobile device itself.
The VR enables users to create and interactive environment and allows experimentation with an artificial or fictional world. But the reality is different. It develops mental issues by creating a space of escapism allowing people to live in a virtual world to avoid real word issues. Corporate trainings or skill trainings can be done in VR but there is no surety that the person performed well in VR simulations shall show the same efficiency in the real world.
It plays a very important role of advancement of learning process. It can be used by medical students to practice and procedures, also to interact with virtual patients which later can be applied by them in reality. It also deals with reducing stress, post-traumatic.
AR and VR are blended together to create an enthralling user experience to transport a person into a fictional world giving wings to experiment and interact between a real and virtual world. It actually opens door to a new universe, The Metaverse… Stay tuned for another blog on Metaverse.
